This Year Has Been SAILING Bye...

Well, What a Year so far!
Lost My Phone in Jan... so i had a reason to get my hands busy...
i had some Plywood sitting in the garage leaning against the wall for the last 2 years that i had to move. while moving them i was reminded of a boat hull, due to leaning like they were  for so long.
Sooo... with some free time and some material that i had here i decided the time was now
 to Build  The Boat!
My Idea of the boat was Inspired by a Tiny sailboat that i had run across cruising You_Tube late one evening.
The Minuet Yacht
I Attempted to get ahold of the company that produced them but to no avail.
i emailed every email i called every #... Nothing... Umpfhhhh...

So in all the Glory of
"If I Dont Buld It Who Will"
I Just started putting together the wood one piece at a time...
No Plans & just a few calculations in my head for water displacement, and i had a rough idea of the size that i wanted & Shape!

a couple of days in, i was skinning the Hull With Masonite...
with the Rough Cut Dagger keel inserted Through the Hull.
with the First Piece of Masonite Attached

I was able to skin the whole hull without breaking even 1 piece of the masonite.
i developed a Great Technique to get it to Compound Curve a 10" Radius...
Without Breaking....

the Entire boat was Hand Nailed and Glued.

I Layered it with Fiberglass Chopped Matt and Polyester Resin
I made sure to reinforce it where i thought would be high use areas.

I designed the Hull with a 3 Piece Glue Laminated & Screwed Spine Down the middle of the boat.
I left out the Center board where i was going to be Inserting the Dagger Keel through the hull.
like a Channel or tunnel straight through the boat hull.

i then Took a nice piece of wood and shaped it into the Keel.
i then Laminated the Keel in Fiberglass Weave Cloth and Polyester Resin.

these pics were taken before it was Trimmed Cleaned up and Polished.
the Rudder Assembly is made almost entirely of Aluminum , And is able to Fold upright when Beaching the Craft.

the Control is a Single 6" Ships Wheel... perfect for the Rugged Captains...   Arghhhh...   Lol

The Sail is Hand Sewn from 1.8oz rip stop Nylon, with stitch reinforcing and Strapping.

I ended up Making a Kneeling Trailer for the boat.  the trailer lowers itself to 1" off the ground so that you dont have to be way in the water befor it floats...
This is also a pic with the latest in bodywork done just need to spray some color on it so I can get the Mold Made...

i am Developing  pull out slides that will allow you to launch the sailboat into a pool without the fear of damaging the Hull setting it in the water.
Its So Tiny....   LOL i seriously cant wait!

i took the boat to my freind Sams House to do a Waterline test....
it went just as Expected...   P--E--R--F--E--C--T!
it was actually sitting 1-1/2"higher than i calcuated it to.
but mind you it also did not have the keel, Rudder, Sails or Mast Attached to it yet...
it was tested @
145 lbs    Chapman
185 lbs    Sam
260 lbs    I....

I Have also Decided to Make a Mold of the Sailboat, so that i can sell them in the Near Future.
so untill i have the Necessary Funds, to be Able to Properly MOLD the Hull She Sits,
Teasing me about only being able to Float for a couple mins, & without equipment or rigging.

so the boat rings in @
2 meters Long 1 Meter Wide...
weight as of yet to be assembled and weighed...   soon...   very soon.......

This Little Boat Is Going To Be A Blast!!!
Cant Wait To Go Drift for A While....

Well All                  Keep Moving Forward...  &  Get R Done!
